Who doesn't love freebies? I have been lucky enough to receive two recently. First was a crochet kit and pattern from a lady at my knitting club. She subscibes to a monthly knitting and crochet magazine but doesn't actually crochet at all, so often passes them my way. I'm planning to make that cushion cover as soon as I've finished my next pompon scarf.
My second freebie came in the post from the wonderful Carolyn over at Mess, Muddle and Fun. This is my prize for entering her last blog party every week plus a little extra for winning one of the weeks to! I've popped them straight into our pile of goodies to take on holiday. DD is especially excited about the sticker book and pencils. OH has his beady eye on the wordsearchs in the puzzle book. You couldn't have picked better Carolyn!!!

Yesterday evenings doings.
OH was digging this wonderful wooden headboard out of our communal bin shed, cleaning it off, giving it a polish and attaching it to our bed. We've needed a headboard for a long long time, and the ones we've been looking at in the charity shops/furniture stores have been around £20 so that's a nice amount saved for a rainy day!!!
Isn't he a clever chappy? I am so blessed to have him in my life, he's wonderful.

P.S It's nearly time for my 100th post giveaway to one of my lovely daily readers and followers. I'm getting excited.

Crochet hair slides.
Aren't these sweet? While hunting for some knitting needles earlier in the depths of my craft cupboard I found a huge pack of hair clips. I think I picked them up in the 99p shop a little while before Christmas. Its a pack of 50 plain coloured ones so they definitely needed jazzing up.
A quick google led me to Little Birdie Secrets and her sweet and simple crochet heart pattern. I whipped these up while waiting for our dinner to cook. A well spent 30 minutes if you ask me.

Getting back into it
Today has been the first day in a long time with any sense of normalcy. It felt so wonderful to be able to make something from scratch and spend a little time sat down with some sewing. Above is a little project I whipped up this afternoon. I have embroidered 2 pillowcases with MR and MRS. On the open ends I have also crocheted a shell edge in a matching purple color. I've had the idea to make these for a little while, and now they are done I've popped them straight on the bed for hubby to find. I hope they make him smile.

Barbara Good's Bag
Sorry for the lack of posts for a while. Everything that can go wrong seems to be happening to us here at TFHMH. We lost a relative, have all been suffering from a horrible cold and to top it off I needed to see the emergency dentist :(
But we have to carry on with things don't we!!!
As some of you may know I am utterly obsessed about The Good Life. If I could be anyone I would be Barbara Good, in fact my mum joked that I married my partner because his name was Tom lol.
And thanks to the wonderful invention that is Pinterest my obsession can grow that little bit more.
My current challenge is to recreate Barbara Good's bag. You can see it in this photo just behind Tom's hand on the hook. I love the shape, the style and the idea of owning something just like Mrs Goods. The bag above looks like straw/wicker which I am sadly lacking in so mine will be a crochet version. Wish me luck folks, I will post my progress later on.

Busy busy busy
DD and Mummy (me) playing in the ball pit. At first she wouldn't go near the ball pit bit but once mummy climbed in and should her it was safe and actually pretty fun we couldn't get her out.
DD approves. She loves trying to pick off the foam shapes and pushing the gems like buttons while singing "beep beep beep". I think I will have to reattach several of them next year but who cares if she's happy.
What have you all been making lately?

Todays news.
What do think? I found a tutorial online a while ago for crocheting pillowcases, and I picked up a few pairs of pillowcases at a jumble sale to try. This is my first attempt and I'm pretty pleased with the turn out. Think it needs a little something else though to make it work. Perhaps a crochet flower on one of the far corners. I might attempt it tomorrow. And then work on the second pillowcase.
Today has been another great day for stickers, 9 more I found today, one for a free apple pie.
We shared it between the three of us on the walk home from work. A little bit of luxury.

Great Nanna Gift.
A late night post for my Blog friends today. I am happy to say that I have completed my lap blanket for my dear ole Nan's Xmas present. I'm really please with how its turned out actually. It's the first time I've ever crocheted anything but a granny square so I was a little nervous but I soon got the hang of making these flower squares thanks to this blog
http://rosehip.typepad.com/rose_hip_blog/2008/11/pattern.html
And so without further ado here it is.......................

Please excuse the fact its a bit squished up as I haven't even had a chance to press it yet, rest assured it will be pressed, folded and tied with ribbon before being presented to my Nana.
And also here is a quick photo of why I don't get a chance to knit and crochet quite as much as I used to anymore lol.
