Just finished

Just finished this little bunny for Baby D's first birthday in August.
I hope she enjoys her as much as I liked knitting her.

And the packing continues...

That's one small child ready to move. Just need to find a smaller box for Baby D.

I couldn't resist sneaking some time away from sorting and packing to show you my baking.

Its a sandwich Battenburg!  Using up my almond essence, food colouring,  dried eggs, marzipan and silver balls. Phew! That'll save some packing space lol.

The plan is to eat it during a seaside picnic tomorrow.  I will try and pop back to tell you how it goes.

Popping in for a moment

 Sorry it's been so quiet here lately, but there is big news in the FHMH house after almost 6 years of waiting and bidding, we finally have been offered a Council Home!!!!! There has been much excitement and celebrating I can tell you.

 We are just waiting on confirmation which have been assured we will get on Friday and is just a "paperwork" thing, so it is definitely ours. We should get our first proper access on Monday and Our moving date is a week Friday! So we are having a huge dejunk and pack-a-thon here to get everything ready in time.

 I will post soon with some photo's of the new place.

Family picnic

On Sunday we headed to Victoria Country Park with all the in-laws for a big family picnic. We each brought something to eat and drink for everyone so it was quite a varied tasty feast. The weather was just perfect for sitting on the shore and chatting. Or in my case going beach-combing with my little SIL.

  

This is part of the famous Victoria Hospital which is in the centre of the site. It houses a lovely exhibition about Florence Nightingale who was quite involved with the building of the sight. If you have five minutes spare I recommend looking the park up on Wikipedia.

 I spent the afternoon beach combing with my SIL Rosie. I've blogged our finds over on my other blog - here.

 And finally a little peek at my current WIP - pink and white stripe jumper for Baby D. I'm knitting it for aged 1 year so it should do for the winter.

 And a quick project I just finished. A pair of multi color socks for DD using up a ball of interesting wool I picked up an age ago in a charity shop. They are really snugly and warn, perfect for colder weather.

999 on Hayling Island

We're all battling a tummy bug here at the moment. Hubby started us off on Monday night, I started Wednesday night and now DD is looking peaky this morning. Oh the joys!
 So forgive me for going into the past a little and showing you all some snaps from the weekend. Hayling Island hosts a free 999 show every year next to the sea. You can meet local police officers, sit in all the emergency cars and pick up thousands of leaflets about personal safety and home safety. It really is a fascinating day out.

We really enjoyed watching the firemen cutting someone out of a car. It is amazing just how quickly they can remove a roof with the jaws of life. DD wasn't very impressed though. "They broke the car mummy. Naughty firemen!"

Perhaps it's a little early to try interesting the police as an career, but she looked so cute playing with this policeman cutout. Officer Baby reporting for duty.

 One of the police stalls had a free keyring to make. One of the helpers showed you how to do a fingerprint of your thumb and then popped it into a keyring for you to take home and keep. They also put them under a magnifier so you could see your fingerprint really clearly and see what type you had. DD has proudly attached hers to her school bag to show everyone.

 DD made one to, albeit a bit smaller. We have attached hers to her changing bag to, mainly to stop her chewing it lol.

And a trip to Hayling Island wouldn't be complete without a visit to the local arcade! Here is DD playing with a 2p Roulette machine. She really enjoyed trying to guess which color would win next and we even made it slightly educational by prompting her to tell us what all the colours were.

 All in all it was a lovely weekend trip out together. I can't wait till we move there and everything's on my doorstep to enjoy.
