Tut tut Daddy!

Just because my husband has a child (or three!) Doesn't seem to be stopping him from also being one. He send me the photo above last night trying to convince me that this was how he left the elves for this morning.

This is how they actually were. Playing with Baby G's toys.....slightly relieved I have to say lol.

Tomorrow the girls will wake to an epic snowball fight in the lounge. With chocolate advent calender forts of course!

Help! She needs to be a sheep!

I was helpfully informed on Friday that DD1 was a stable animal in the nativity play this year. Which of course meant she needed a costume...by Monday.

Not an easy feat with two sick children and a hubby working all weekend.

I had a basic plan in my head as DD1 insisted she wanted to be a sheep. I made an emergency sos phone call to Nanny, who has the fabric stash to end all fabric stashes.

She arrived today armed with wadding material, pink fabric, a sewing machine and a box of tricks.

Within an hour we had the costume above! DD1 will be wearing a long sleeve black tshirt and leggings underneath for the real deal but you get the idea!

Thank goodness for Nannies sewing skills and a special mention to Grandad for his child entertainment skills so we could work in peace.

Potential disaster averted!

Elf milkshake

The elf milkshake went down very well this morning. In fact we had them for breakfast! Possibly not the healthiest breakfast ever but  it's Christmas so whatever!

The girls went crazy for the green milk, and the sprinkles went down really well too.

Tomorrow's elves are a mystery as Hubby is setting them up when he gets in from work. I dread to think what we might discover downstairs, you know how Daddies can be with these kinds of things!

Classroom cards and more elf shenanigans

DD1; Mummy you know Christmas is coming?

Me; Yes....

DD1; Can I give everyone in my class a card?

Me; Of course you can!

DD1; And a present? 

Me; um......

DD1; It's Christmas! You HAVE to give presents at Christmas! 

And so DD1 and I have spend our evening mummy daughter time making up 30 Christmas cards (plus two spare - just in case!)

Each card is handwritten by DD1 and includes a few Christmas stickers and a mini candy cane.

£3 in Pound Land well spent I think :)

Tomorrow's elf on the shelf is interactive. Now its the weekend we can have some elf activities to enjoy. 

We have elf milk, bananas, squirty cream and Christmas shaped sprinkles. 

I look forward to showing you all the resulting creations on tomorrow's post.

Quick thrifty gifts (and elves)

I recently treated myself to a new coat for the winter, but needed something to do with my old one. It was too tatty to donate so I looked to crafty ideas. 

After a bit of Internet mooching I found Whimsy Love and fell in love with idea of fleecy beanbags.

The girls have a set of six each for Christmas. It only took me two evenings to cut and sew them.

Now I just need to find a little container for them to live in (and make them easier to wrap).

I can't wait to see what games the girls come up with when playing with them.

 And finally

Those naughty little elves have made a loo paper slide! I have a feeling the girls will quite enjoy discovering them in the morning!

Organizing and playing with elves

DD2 is poorly. It's been a long few days but the Dr has declared it "only a virus" so we are riding it out at home with lots of calpol and cuddles.

After 3 days though I'm going slightly crazy.

So I decided today to occupy myself by blitzing the hallway.

Doesn't that look better? All the summer coats that will see next year have been stashed, the outgrown ones charity shopped and two raggedy ones sent to the craft stash.

One in fact has already been cut up ready to make a gift for the children. Watch this space!

Organizing the shoe mountain also gave me a nice idea for our elves. All aboard the shoe express! Next stop Christmas town.

The Elves have arrived!

I don't know if you are familiar with the idea of Elf on the Shelf. 

But we are now host to three such creatures for the duration of December until Christmas Eve.

They arrived this morning with a wrapped book, introduction letter, a candy cane each and a pile of headscarves.

The letter asked the girls to make them a nice bed with the scarves as they were all so tired after their long journey.

They did a great job and those elves look Super snuggly to me.

Tomorrow the girls will be waking up to this....

guess who are joining us all for breakfast.
