Thursdays happenings

DD woke me up a 5.20am this morning! Just because she had decided to get up and play, not due to night terrors so I suppose that is an improvement in some ways. I pottered about for an hour putting the washing on and doing the washing up, but as soon as I sat down for a nice cuppa I promptly nodded back off with her on the sofa. That's when OH rolled over in bed and noticed I wasn't there and after checking on us both decided to take this snap which he then plonked on Facebook for all to giggle at. He's a meany sometimes, but I do think its a pretty cute photo.
We are at the end of week 3 of Home school already. Our last task of the week is to make a cat out of sugar paper with spaghetti whiskers tomorrow. I will add our weeks progress to my homeschool page shortly. We fitted in the number 3 colouring between my knit and natter group this morning and my midwife appointment in the afternoon.

After seeing the midwife and being told my pregnancy is now boringly normal, which is how they like it, we decided that we were just to close to the local Harvester to say no to a meal out. OH had is usual meat feast and I had their lovely simply pasta dish. DD had a little bit of both meals along with a small helping of goodies from the salad cart. She is a huge huge fan of raw sweetcorn and pineapple chunks. We always make sure we have a few tins in the cupboard as a snack for her.

After our meal we took a quick dash into Mr A on our way home for some top up supplies. We ended up spending quite a bit as they are currently having a massive clearance on hundreds of things in the store. I will pop up a post on our choice of bargains in the next day or two.
We are now all cuddled up on the sofa together having a well deserved rest from our adventures. OH is trying to distract himself from the impending arrival of his new Arsenal shirt, as they have just released the latest one and he gets a free backpack because he pre ordered it a little while ago. I will blog about that to when it arrives, as it will be almost as exciting as our bump arriving in August lol. DD is singing happy birthday over and over to her stuffed piggy toy, and I am blogging it all to you fine people.
I might even toddle off in a moment and have a nice luxurious bath with bubbles and a good book. Wild aren't I?

Hot off the press

I've just an email from my Dad with some photos from DD's day out to the zoo yesterday. He has such a talent for taking photos, which sadly doesn't seem to have passed on genetically. OH takes most of my photos for me on here lol.

Marwell have just refurbished their penguin enclosure for their 40th anniversary and from some of the photos it looks pretty snazzy. According to my parents it is where they ended up spending most of their visit, DD is just fascinated my penguins.

I especially love this shot of DD playing in a tunnel. It's my new laptop background.
DD even picked up a new furry friend to bring home.
It looks like she had a lovely lunch of cheese sandwiches, crisps, fruit and milk. And a rather pleasant lunchtime conversation with nanny.
And finally a lovely long nap on the way home in Granddad's car. You can just make out the king spot on her cheek, and a few others on her arm. She hasn't seemed to developed anymore overnight but this morning she is quite warm, sleepy and grumpy so I'm waiting for more to pop out. We have dug out a stash of her favourite DVD's to watch on the sofa and relax. Expect some craft posts for the next few days, I doubt we will be going out much over the next few days.

The big day out

I am exhausted!! As soon as this post is written and posted I will hitting the shower and then the bed for a well deserved rest. First we spent a few hours at a local car boot sale, we found several bargains and I will give them their own post tomorrow. Then we went to Uncle D's house to meet up for a special day out. For DD's second birthday in March Uncle D promised us all a ride on a mini steam train and today was the perfect timing and weather to finally go.
First we helped feed the fish in Uncle D's  goldfish pond. There are hundreds in the there and DD finds it really entertaining.
Then we went to Royal Victoria Country park, after waiting on a little station we were off on our birthday train ride.

Then came ice cream cones and tickle fights in the sunshine.
A bit of posing in Daddy's sunglasses.
A slap up pub meal and a play on a bouncy castle.
And finally we helped Grandad water his allotment before going home for a well deserved rest. All in all a fabulous day out was had by all.

Mystery Monday

So my mystery day out yesterday was a trip to Marwell Zoo!! One of my most favourite places of all time, and all arrange in secret by the wonderful hubby. He even supplied us with a lovely picnic lunch to take with us. I felt truly spoilt.
I loved watching Anya peeking into all the enclosures and trying to spot the animals. The weather was perfect for walking around and we were quite comfy in our shirts and jumpers for the day.
We haven't been here since last summer so DD  was a lot older and alert, which made everything so much more fun. We'd normally walk straight past the hippo statue but DD was fascinated for nearly 10 minutes and insisted on riding on it.
It was nice to see so many of the animals out enjoying the sunshine as much as we were. Not very many people were about either which meant several of the shyer species were in full view for a change.
We had our lunch half way around the lemur trail. They kept us quite entertained while we enjoyed our sandwichs and nibbles. I actually got to finish my lunch in peace for once as DD was kept quite amused by their antics.
This lemur kept posing for the camera beautifully and we caught several shots of him.
After the zoo we popped into my parents house on route home, for a cup of tea and a slice of cake. My mum gave me a bag of goodies she had picked up at a local swap meet for us all, which I will blog tomorrow. Needless to say we all slept extremely well after our adventures.

Big Birthday outing

Sunday was my birthday and we celebrated with a trip to the zoo. DD had a wonderful time peering and pointing. She hasn't been to the zoo since she started walking and it was lovely to watch her toddling around.
She particularly taken with the lemurs as you can see in the photo above.
Me and DD watching some huge birds. I think they were nesting because they were being quite aggressive towards anyone walking past. I think DD was very glad of the fence between us and them.
I just love this shot OH snapped of DD running along the path with her builder's bum hanging out.
OH and DD were both equally fascinated with the penguins swimming past the little viewing windows. I could have left them watching for the day and gone off on my own and they'd never have noticed.
All in all it was a fantastic day out, and when we visited my parents afterwards we were treated to a lovely meal out in a local Pub. DD slept through the whole thing after her adventures so we had a really nice grown up family meal.
The whole day was utterly perfect.
