AoG Day Five; Social Media

Another day another quote lol. I used the quote today for inspiration and made a "consumerism" collage.  I used  a Mr A gift catalogue to make a road lined with Christmas trees. I added a few more trees cut out from various scraps in green. The car is from inside the front cover, I think it's part of a home delivery advert. The road is just a strip cut from a darkish coloured page.
I added the quote in gold pen so it slightly links to the clock on the page opposite. Once it has dried off I will seal both this page and the clock page with PVA at the same time.
I'm actually quite in love with this piece :)

Natty Mitten Knits

The ladies at my knit and natter group are raving about these fingerless mittens! The pattern has been photocopied so many times I'm surprised we haven't broken the library's machine.  I decided to experiment with a pair and I knitted them up in two days flat, each taking just over 2 hours. They aren't much to look at while they aren't being worn.
Excuse the photo OH is at work and my photography skills are rubbish! But hopefully you can see how lovely these mitten are when worn. The ruffle wrist and picot edges really make this pattern elegant. I can suddenly see what all the fuss is about and am getting to work on my second pair as an Xmas pressy.

AoG Day 4; Time

I was really stuck on today's art page. I decided to use the quote once again, but I had to have a think about the technique. I don't own any paint or inks (except the usual type in pens) so I needed to be creative to include a stamp into my page. In the end I cut the word time out of old postage stamps!
I styled my page to look like a retro mantel clock and added the quote in gold pen on the dial.
I really like how this looks, and how different each of my pages are so far.

P.S; I attempted to schedule this post for yesterday evening as I had family round for the day and wouldn't have time to post it later. Turns out I set it for 2013! LOL

AoG Day 3; Creativity

I just cannot got enough of the quotes so far in the AoG challenge. This page features today's quote, the daily challenge (draw freehand), and a bit of the guest post inspiration.
I used some cutouts from an old book of fish and a trusty blue Biro. I am a bit in awe of all the inks, dyes and paints used in the other art pages, saying that however I do like my frugal creations just as much :)

Ebay goodies

I've been dipping in and out of Ebay lately looking for some cheap Christmas presents to add to my stash. While having a potter about this afternoon I came upon the lot in the photo above. DD is a huge fan of the Tweenies (4 dolls in the middle row) and seeing as they are usually £8 each I put a bid in. My winning bid? £5.50 for the whole lot!
It was a local pick up only auction so OH emailed them to arrange pick up and they said ASAP so he was picking them up within 30 minutes of the auction ending!
The Tweenie dolls, Winnie the pooh toys and Bob the Builder toys have been hooked out. The rest is straight in the donation bag for the local charity shop. No point in adding even more clutter to the house.
DD isn't a fan of Bob the Builder, but as a mum I know how much these character toys can cost. I popped them on my Facebook page in a for sale post. They sold within the hour for £5 the pair. So my addition to DD and Baby D's presents cost a very frugal 50p
 I'm feeling rather smug lol

AoG Day 2; Today

Here is my second art journal page on today's theme. Guess which part I was most inspired by! I found some wonderful Buddhist colouring pages, made OH print them out for me (lol) and then got decorating. I used my trusty Asda gel pens to colouring in the pictures, keeping a careful colour scheme based on some Buddhist art I found through google.
I added it a few pages further into my art journal because I didn't want two quotes to close together  just in case I don't always use the quotes and the ones I do are all clumped together.

In other news I have finished another pumpkin hat. DD has fallen in love with Baby D's one so I whipped up this toddler sized one to stop the potential fights. I just need to sew it up, hence all the ends in the picture.

I'm looking forward to tomorrows art prompt, and getting my needles in a Christmas present project.

AoG Day 1; Wholeheartedness

I really liked today's quote so I decided to write it out nicely and add it to my page. And as our challenge today was to work with a colour we didn't like I chose to make this page as pink as possible. The tissue paper background I prepared earlier was perfect for today, I feel a bit psychic lol.
My next plan is to let the glue dry and then seal the whole page with some good ole PVA and a little water. But it will have to wait because.....
Baby D is sleeping on my face. I took the picture above with my webcam so you could see my predicament. I think this post has come out rather well considering I typed it with one hand and at a funny angle.
